I got this one as a freebie a while back and looked forward to a modern desert survival romance introduction. Yes, I do say intro because this is a prequel story and meant to set things up for the series, introduce a pair of the characters and the beginning of their romance.It did the job of getting me hooked on the story, the characters, and the author's writing so I'll definitely be coming back for more from the series.

This was my first story by Jennifer Lewis and I loved it! A short sexy novella introducing the reader to Ronnie and the Desert Kings. Realistic stranded romance and the H/H didn't just jump into the sack. Another plus was that Ronnie was not white. Diverse and wonderful. I will be reading all of the series now.

I can't wait to read the whole story, I'm going to skip over the first book in the series when I can finally get it and go straight for their story. They were cute and funny and pretty smart about the crazy dangerous situation they had found themselves in. I cannot wait to see what happens next in their story. Plus you never really see a black woman in a romance novel about a sheik and desert countries....that was worth sitting up and taking notice.
I just couldn't get into a book about a black woman with no ass who can't dance. Since I read these books because there is no real romance in my life (why lie), I need the lead female character to be someone that I can relate to who is a bit like me. And, I can dance and also have plenty of the other thing that I mentioned.
Always a fan of the interracial couples, but this novella was seriously messy. I love the whole "only two people together and stranded in the middle of nowhere" motif as much as the next reader, but the chemistry between these two felt extremely fake and completely rushed. (I mean, she doesn't even LOOK at him until their plane is crashing) I would have appreciated more restraint on both characters' parts, as well as more development of the relationship. Also, are the Sheikh's motives entirely pure? Can they even continue to be together? How is she going to date royalty? So many questions left unanswered. . .
I really liked the concept, so I was disappointed when the story left me underwhelmed. The dialogue between Zadir and Ronnie was so flat, devoid of any passion. A few times Ronnie mentions Zadir flirting with her, but nothing about his interaction or conversations with her indicated that at all for me. Suddenly they're kissing and having sex and it's over before you realise what just happened. No passion, no foreplay, no buildup before entry, no afterglow. It's a very short read, and perhaps if it was longer the story and the characters could have been better developed. I'm not sure I'll continue this series.
The first Novella starts out with mystery, intrigue and romance in the desert, introducing one of the brothers that is to take one of the 3 thrones after he finds a bride and is married. Great intro into this series.
Good short story but you have to buy the second book in the Desert Kings series to find out what happens to this couple. What I read was at least 4 stars but I gave it 3 for leaving the ending in the air.
